ProSwim Lessons

ProSwim specialises in teaching non swimmers, both children and adults, to learn to swim. Our lessons are designed to maximise swimming improvement, while also ensuring students have fun as they learn. We have learners pools where young children can learn to swim with the confidence of being able to touch the bottom.
Once basic skills have been developed, children progress through our levels into the main pool, where they extend their swimming ability and improve on endurance and technique in the water. On completion of our Dolphin level, children will be confident and competent swimmers. From Dolphins, students can go on to join a local club and become competitive swimmers, or simply continue to regularly attend ProSwim's highest level, to maintain fitness and technique in the pool.
ProSwim also offers a number of adult programs including Aqua fitness classes suitable for all ages & abilities. Our Adult Focus class covers the basics of gaining confidence in the water and learning to swim. The Adult Challenge is a fun group of adults who meet with an instructor to participate in a lap swimming program which will build fitness while improving on technique.

Logbooks

A Logbook is a great way to encourage your child to progress through the steps of learning to swim. ProSwim awards swimmers with certificates and ribbons upon completion of particular skills in each level. The ribbons and incentive awards are aimed at encouraging children to achieve developmental milestones within each swimming level. Logbooks assist parents to keep track of children's awards and certificates all safe in one place. The ProSwim Logbook also includes space savers which will detail the next step of the learning process. This will give parents a greater understanding of where children are up to, and helps students to focus on what they need to focus on in order to achieve their next award. The Logbook is availaible to view and purchase at reception.

Infants

An introduction to water, with an initial focus on balance and comfort, gentle conditioning and floats. As the children in this class get older, the focus of the class changes, with more priority put on submerging, safety walks, independent swims and skills that will assist your child once they turn three years of age, and progress to a class without you in the pool with them.

Shrimps: 4 months-6 months   (FREE)

This is an ideal class if you belong to a mother's group and would like to start an activity that can cater to your whole group. This class focuses on infant holds, gentle conditioning and floating. We will show you the best ways to hold your little one, on both their front and their back, helping to get both yourself and your child comfortable and confident in the water. Conditioning is about teaching your baby breath control in order to prepare them for submersions. We will introduce cues and show you the best things you can do at home and in the pool to assist in the conditioning process. This is a non submersive class, so although we will be working with you to help condition your child to be ready for submersions, they will not take place in this class. With floating, we will primarily focus on the back float and how to get into the back float position.
These classes are parent/guardian and child classes, therefore require an adult to accompany the child into the lesson.
